Contemporary materials
Contemporary materials are a more recent field in conservation-restoration and one that is still in development. Contemporary materials are very sensitive and their conservation and restoration require a deep scientific understand of their production and aging.
Side table by Marc Held for Prisunic
This side table is made of glass reinforced polyester (GRP) and is conserved by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. It was the subject of my masters thesis. It presented holes in the gelcoat, an epoxy adhesive that had to be removed, and a large lacuna in the elastomer joint. The restoration included cleaning, filling in the holes, recreation of a flexible filling element that imitated the joint and removal of the epoxy adhesive, as well as a suitable replacement to stabilise the castor feet.

Michelin man
The Michelin man and the Michelin sign are made of PMMA and were restored for the Michelin Museum. The restoration involved cleaning, glueing, filling and retouching.
